Founder and Director of Alchemy Construct, Jamie has transformed his business dreams that began from the comfort of his home to an award winning, innovative Construction Company delivering a high-level service.

Jamie has worked as a Project Manager on a multitude of major construction ventures as well as many tertiary and key public developments back in Australia as well as in his home country, Scotland.

His noteworthy projects include the redevelopment of the Point Cook Community Learning Centre, a multi-storey building joint to a library and a childcare centre, as well as the construction of the Victoria Police HQ Complex valued at $200 million.

After many years working in the industry, Jamie realised he wanted to develop a new type of construction company, a game changing business with a positive skilled and enthusiastic team that would go the extra mile.

Sarah is the Director of Brand and Marketing and co-founder of Alchemy Construct alongside her husband, Jamie Nicolson.

With a background in Broadcasting, PR and Marketing, Sarah brings a high level of expertise to Alchemy’s marketing and digital media presence. Working with a range of highly regarded photographers, videographers and like-minded clients, Sarah’s keen eye for style and attention to detail ensures that Alchemy and it’s projects, it’s people and the news stories it generates make a strong connection with the audience.

Passionate about brand management and company identity, Sarah has a unique ability to quickly build rapport with existing and potential clients and plays a key role in creating strong working relationships.

As well as working with the team at Alchemy, Sarah has her own creative business, Studio Dedikit, which focuses on her passion for photography, styling and brand presence.

Daniel Morgan is General Manager at Alchemy.

With a 20-year career in the construction industry, most recently as a Senior Commercial Manager, Daniel brings a wealth of experience and a proven ability to deliver.

Daniel has previously been involved in developing and evolving business growth in Victoria, and other states across Australia in construction companies and divisions across the country.

Daniel shares Alchemy’s passion and values and is a fantastic asset to our team. He helps us to continue to grow and develop, taking us to the next level projects-wise, with a focus on the future direction of the business, and the continued nurturing of a high performing team.

Not only is Marinos’ (or Murray, as he likes to be known) bright and positive personality super infectious, but his proven ability to drive commercial growth across many different divisions within a number businesses, as well as his wealth of experience, makes him an incredible asset to the Alchemy team.

Having led People Capability and Development for a large national Pharmaceutical company, a former GM of People and Performance at the Rubicor Group and the Head of Talent Management for the Adecco Group – both in Australia and London, Murray is currently working across all areas of the business – both in office and on site – to help streamline the rapid growth of the team, as well as cement and continue the strong company culture and values that Alchemy stand for.

With a focus on employee experience, culture and engagement, talent, leadership and organisational development, Murray supports our growth, with plans for state and long-term international expansion.

Braham has 30 years experience in construction, starting his career in the mining sector constructing mineral sands mines throughout Australia, then moving into the D&C field in the chemical, food, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries. With such a solid foundation, Braham then upsized into the commercial and retail arena working with Tier2 builders, gaining further experience across the full breadth of industry sectors, working on several projects up to $100M.

Braham is a focused and skilled Construction Manager, is highly respected by his peers and subcontractors, and provides strong and ‘big picture’ leadership. With excellent people management skills, and a full understanding all technical matters, Braham is able to focus on critical project issues early to ensure they’re addressed comprehensively in a risk-mitigating manner.

A qualified Quantity Surveyor, Liam commenced his career in Ireland before moving to Australia.

With 15+ years of industry experience, Liam has a proven track record of bidding for and winning quality projects, as well as developing strong relationships within key industry contacts. A cool head under pressure with an adaptable attitude, Liam enables success by supporting his colleagues and leading a high performing team.

His very sound knowledge of construction methodologies and site management procedures, mean that together with strong design and construct capabilities, he ensures overall comprehensive tender proposals. Liam will lead our tender team, and help support our continued growth as we step into the Tier 2 market.

An experienced and registered Architect, Sarah has a wealth of knowledge within the Architecture and Construction industry. Not only that, she’s also a published author and triathlon competitor! Is there nothing this amazing woman can’t do?

Having studied Architecture, Project Management and Civil Engineering, Sarah has not only worked in four continents in Germany, Mexico, Brazil and Australia within a number of Architecture and Project Management offices, she’s also worked on some exciting projects across a number of different areas including: the Marvel Stadium Upgrades redevelopment and the Melbourne Olympic Park redevelopment – amongst many others.

Not only is she well accomplished career-wise, her humble and positive personality makes her a valued member of the team.

A skilled Contract Administrator, Michael is currently working within the Alchemy Small Works Division to help bring some amazing projects to life.

A hard worker with strong industry experience, Michael has worked on some amazing projects throughout his career including: Project Ocado – an Online Robotic Distribution Centre, the Bureau of Meteorology and the Melbourne Aquarium – amongst many others.

With a passion for the industry and an efficient work ethic, Michael is a great addition to the Alchemy team!

With over 10 years of experience within the construction space, Nathan brings with him a wealth of knowledge to the Alchemy team.

Having successfully completed multi-million dollar construction projects within the education, health, corrections and residential sectors across his career, Nathan is known for his ability to complete complex projects on time and under budget.

Within team Alchemy, Nathan has sight over all of our current projects and is working closely with the Project Management team to ensure the smooth delivery of projects and the streamlining of operations – both in office and on site.

As a dynamic and accomplished Senior Project Manager with over 20 years’ of extensive experience and proven capabilities. Christian has an excellent record in delivering complex projects and a track record of managing multi-discipline teams to deliver projects on time and within budget against aggressive targets.

Christian oversees and guides our Project Managers from project commencement through to completion and is the main point of contact for our clients. He has a unique and proven ability to manage both company and sub-contractor relationships to ensure a cohesive approach is obtained in delivering challenging projects.

With his strong technical acumen, Christian successfully managed the delivery of multi-million-dollar projects across Melbourne, Mornington Peninsula, West Melbourne and the Northern Territory.

With a team orientated attitude, Christian is a manager who believes success is driven through open communication and accountability, and is able to deliver positive outcomes for the team.

Beginning his career as a carpenter/joiner working on residential and commercial frameworks, John quickly progressed to a Site Manager position with his strong organisational and technical skills. John has worked to deliver a number of large scale projects including; the South Wharf cargo sheds, and many projects for RMIT and Deakin University.

With a strong ability to problem-solve, John’s positive ‘can-do’ attitude and years of experience make him very well equipped to run well-managed sites.

Viet joined the Alchemy team whilst studying for his Bachelor of Civil Engineering & Architectural Design. Originally as a bid co-ordinator, he was tasked with collating conforming tender submissions before joining the Estimating team as a junior estimator.

Due to his significant performance and outstanding attention to detail, Viet worked his way to a Junior Contract Administrator role and thanks to his hard work and dedication, he is now a Contract Administrator focusing on projects across all sectors including Tertiary Education, Healthcare & Government.

With over 7 years of experience in the customer service and administrative space, and having worked across a variety of different spaces, no task is too big or too small for Verity.

With a passion for people and the ability to connect and support where necessary, she is a true burst of energy in the office and her hands-on approach to completing tasks makes her a valuable part of the Alchemy team.

Shabab Salahuddin

Shabab gained a wealth of knowledge in project management, document control, organisation of sub-contractors engagement and certification of specialist equipment and services, working on major healthcare projects in Bangladesh – specifically delivering the turn-key operating theatres, wards and all support ancillary services in specialist cardiac hospitals.

Shabab has high levels of diligence in sub-contract administration, has excellent communication skills with highly complex and technical systems and services, as well as pro-active collaboration skills, all of which came to the fore during his time successfully project managing six different projects for AFC Health.

Since joining Alchemy Construct, Shabab has coordinated works at Northpark Private Hospital for the upgrade of the Central Sterilization Services Department (CSSD) to current Code, where strong lines of communication and stakeholder interface were essential for the ongoing hospital operations. He has also been introduced to the tertiary education space, overseeing the refurbishment of specialist research laboratories at RMIT University, working with the team to achieve OGTR certification. He also recently completed the Bionics Institute’s Bio Medical Device Development Facility, for St Vincent’s Hospital.

Alankrita, or AK, as she is fondly known, is an experienced Project Coordinator and a real asset to the Alchemy team!

With a Master of Construction and Infrastructure Management, as well as strong industry experience, AK is currently working within the Alchemy Small Works Division, helping the team bring a number of exciting projects to life.

Having worked as an Architect and a teacher of engineering, AK brings her sharp analytical skills and pro-active nature to the team.

Travis has 20 years construction experience, many of those leading on-site resources and managing works on “tricky” and constrained sites as a dedicated, safety-conscious Site Manager.

Having started his career as a trade-qualified carpenter on large-scale residential and commercial works, Travis was quickly promoted to Site Manager at a Tier3 builder where he excelled on a number of the BER education projects during an intense period of projects delivery to strict deadlines.

Travis subsequently joined a Tier1 builder and during a 9 year tenure worked across several industry sectors, including Commercial Retail, Office and Apartments, as well as further larger scale Education jobs, providing him with a very sound understanding on site controls to minimise any potential impact to business operations. With recent hospital and school projects in the very “live” environment, Travis has a proven record delivering major works in challenging environments.

Having worked as a Contract Administrator in both Christchurch and London, Dylan’s experience in the construction industry extends beyond Australian borders!

With a degree in Quantity Surveying, Dylan began his early career as a CA, working his way into an Estimating role. Now with us at Alchemy, he is part of our Estimating and Tender team, helping to secure a number of exciting large-scale projects for the business.

Having previously worked on a number of projects for Melbourne Airport, we know that Dylan’s industry experience is a great asset to Team Tender, and the wider Alchemy team.

Throughout her career, Georgia has gained extensive experience within the administrative, sales and development space as well as the property industry – where she managed large portfolios in both London and Australia.

With a warm and positive personality, Georgia’s welcoming energy is a fantastic addition to the Alchemy team. Working closely with Murray, our Head of People and Experience, Georgia is across a number of different company culture projects and helps to ensure the smooth operations of the office and the wider Alchemy team.

With over 17 years of experience within the Estimating space, Karl has a strong track record of helping to deliver commercial and residential construction projects, as well as five years within the specialist field of insurance construction.

His wealth of knowledge and experience is an amazing addition to the Alchemy team, with Karl having worked on some incredible projects over the years including; Chadstone Shopping Centre, Collingwood Football Club – Olympic Park and St Michael’s Grammar School – amongst many others.

Thanks to his dedicated work ethic and his strong knowledge base, Karl is truly a wonderful asset within team Alchemy!

With a background in finance and business, Ivy began with the Alchemy team in an administration capacity and her keen desire to learn and grow, helped her to quickly progress into a Project Coordinator position.

Ivy is currently working closely with James Macdonald in the Small Works Division. Her positive, logical and inquisitive attitude is an amazing addition to the Alchemy team and her willingness to get her hands dirty has been integral to her success within the business.

Commencing her career running a successful civil and landscape family business, Pauline then entered the construction industry as an Estimator, developing a detailed understanding of the industry from “the ground up”, initially working in structural steel, concrete and civil fields. Pauline progressed into fitout and new construction works across a variety of industries in South Australia, taking on senior roles and honing her project management skills delivering a substantial portfolio of commercial and retail fit-outs, where her attention to detail achieved some great quality outcomes.

Pauline has a wealth of knowledge in the medical and education sectors where she excels in construction management and D&C contracts. Her proven ability, dedication and resilience make Pauline one of the best Project Managers in our industry.

Commencing his professional career with Alchemy, Stefano completed the final year of his Diploma of Building and Construction at RMIT whilst also working as part of the Alchemy team.

Stefano is a motivated team member, with his ‘pull-the-sleeves-up’ attitude, he has exposure and experience in contract administrating and project coordinating, specifically – liaising with subcontractors, financing, scoping works to setup projects, assisting in swift correspondence and solving problems that may arise.

Beginning her early career in the Marketing space, Phoebe moved into the Construction sector working across a number of residential and commercial projects, where she found her niche in Estimating.

With experience in sales estimating and tendering architectural design, residential and dual occupancy/multi-unit developments up to $4m, as well as managing projects of up to $4m in contract value, Phoebe is a dedicated and knowledgeable Estimator with a high level of expertise.

Shane Whiteley has more than 30 years’ experience in the building industry. A qualified carpenter, he ran his own carpentry company for 16 years.

During this time, he specialised in domestic housing including renovations, extensions, kitchen make overs and new builds. He also participated in larger projects – for example, the re-building of St Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Church in East Malvern following its destruction by fire. Shane is used to leading a cohesive, motivated team and is a stickler for producing quality workmanship.

Since joining Alchemy Construct, Shane has been involved in a variety of projects. Most recently, projects have included the successful completion of the new Stroke Unit fit out at Royal Melbourne Hospital. Shane worked as a key member of the team that successfully delivered this world class, multi-million-dollar project two weeks ahead of schedule.

As a highly organised and proactive Contract Administrator with a background in Quantity Surveying and Engineering, Matt has previously worked internationally on the $610M high-end Embassy Gardens Apartments Development in London, where he managed 3 Quantity Surveyors, produced monthly commercial reporting of out-turns, variations and cash flow, and liaised with cross functional teams including Architects, Solicitors, and site related consultants.

With a strong technical background and foundation, Matt is highly proficient in trade package procurement and subsequent sub-contractor administration and management. He prides himself on clear and accurate project financials, and developing a close relationship with all projects stakeholders to ensure a high level project is delivered.

Leon is an experienced Contract Administrator/ Estimator, having worked across a range of commercial, residential, educational and government projects, gaining broad experience on projects of up to $12M. Leon is well qualified with a Master in Project Management that underpins his day-to-day activities, with a very thorough technical understanding of construction works.

Early in his career Leon was involved in a multitude of residential developments and high-end pre-fabricated construction, and also developed knowledge with specialist healthcare and aged care projects. Since joining Alchemy Construct Leon has worked on public sector and education projects, including works for Monash and RMIT universities.

John has been responsible for the management of contracts across a variety of projects, including Aged Care, Medical and Education, and is now a successful Project Manager within the Alchemy team.

John’s focus on attention to detail, coupled with his strong project management and procurement skills ensures that clients receive a high level of customer service.

Commencing his career in the United States before moving to Australia, John worked as Project Engineer on a number of key pipeline, transport infrastructure and multi-use development projects.

Sean commenced his career in the construction industry as a carpenter in Ireland, and since arriving in Australia in 2001 quickly progressed to a Project Manager role delivering a wide variety of projects, including new builds, major refurbishments and fitouts. During this time, Sean has gained invaluable experience in residential, education, health and aged care sectors, and prides himself on safely delivering works in “live” environments.

Sean has delivered numerous technical and challenging projects, and in 2011 and 2012 received two Master Builder Association of Victoria awards for Excellence in Construction and Excellence in Safety. Sean received further recognition by the receipt of an Australian Institute of Building (AIB) high commendation award in construction in the “Commercial Building $10-50M” category for Monash Health’s Kingston Centre Central project in 2018 – a highly complex project requiring meticulous site planning and execution.

James Macdonald

James has experience working in Australia, New Zealand and the UK, working across a broad range of project types, including landfill, medium-density residential and associated sub-divisions, fitouts, extensions and new build projects. Before joining Alchemy Construct James worked on Christchurch’s infrastructure re-build following the 2011 earthquake damage, managing major infrastructures services pipeline replacements.

James has extensive experience in tertiary education fitouts, with a particular capacity to complete works with major programme challenges, raising energy levels of the team to achieve the client’s deadline. James expanded his project management experience more recently to include building extension/construction works, focuses on maintaining safe operation of ongoing activities in the immediate vicinity of the works, and appreciates client protocols for managing isolations and work permits when operating on busy campuses and public sites.

James develops strong communications with the client, is highly collaborative with the design team to deliver their vision, and has often refined design aspects for the overall project benefit.

With over 15 years experience in the Architecture industry, Krysti has worked on large scale projects, most notably in Healthcare and Education. With a great understanding that every facility is unique, Krysti uses her extensive knowledge in design to understand the reasoning behind each decision that both the Architect and Builder make. This knowledge is fantastic for Alchemy to help fast track procurement, construction and close the gap between design intent and existing site conditions.

She also enjoys working on large projects due the opportunities that arise during the design and construction process and believes team work, group knowledge, decision making and flexible thinking results in rewarding challenges and growth across each individual project.

Garry Kiernan

Garry has over 45 years’ extensive experience in the construction industry, and provides a sound technical knowledge and task appreciation for works of this nature. These vital attributes come from years of practical, hands-on experience working with multiple parties to achieve joint project success, particularly for projects with site constraints and stringent site management protocols.

Garry’s role involves providing assistance to project managers across particular trades; managing the more complex key site installation activities including cranage, structure and the mechanical services risers and associated works, where his planning and programming of works permits a high level of on-site activity to meet the aspirational programme.

In relation to site safety, Garry has a great appreciation of on-site OHS&E requirements, and works notice processes.

Gina is a qualified Industrial Engineer and Designer, and has spent a large chunk of her career specialising in large tenancy and design delivery. She has over 20 years of specialist project management and capital works delivery – having worked with some of Australia’s most well-known companies including; Westfield and NAB.

Gina is results driven and has great skill in client and stakeholder management and is a great asset to our team

Beginning at Alchemy on a contract basis to project manage our office HQ, she was so spirited and hard-working that when she finished the project, it did not feel right that we wouldn’t be seeing her each day! Not only is Gina highly skilled in what she does, her energy in the office and on site is truly infectious – we love her fun, dedicated and efficient work ethic.

She is also responsible for the coordination and support for the construction teams in the last stage of production, to ensure the project is delivered and handed over to the highest quality.

On completing a Diploma in Building and Construction at RMIT, Evan started out working in interior fit-outs where he gained valuable estimating experience.

Making the decision to focus his career in this area, he joined Alchemy Construct as a Junior Estimator. A hard worker, Evan is a great contributor to Alchemy’s estimating team and is gradually taking on larger and more complex projects, helping our tender team secure some of Victoria’s most exciting jobs.

Darren Malee

Darren Malee is an experienced Senior Site Manager who started life as a Carpenter and Joiner, working for many years with one of London’s most prestigious joinery companies, Brown and Carroll. Darren was part of the team that delivered the athletes village refurbishment in Stratford for the London Olympics 2012, and progressed quickly to become a Site Manager with Lendlease in London on a variety of commercial building projects, including the $2.5Bn regeneration of Elephant and Castle Park project.

Darren has managed various office and teaching space fitouts within the Education sector, and was integral to the delivery of the Camberwell Primary School library extension project 11 weeks ahead of schedule. Darren also delivered the major redevelopment and refurbishment at the Abbotsford Primary School heritage building, where careful attention to both facade and internal features were deemed a major success factor.

Damian commenced his career working for Ireland’s largest construction firm. He was a team member on many of their jobs where the organisation was awarded honours for delivering prestigious and innovative works in both Ireland and further within the UK. He gained substantial experience working across the UK, India, South East Asia and most recently Australia. He also gained invaluable exposure to works across a broad range of project types and sectors – including Education, Sports & Recreation, Retail, Commercial, Residential, Civil and Pharmaceuticals.

Vince is a highly dynamic Project Manager with over 12 years’ of multi-faceted experience working across Australia; from sensitive and live prison environments, to very remote mining sites in Western Australia, to working on Victoria’s largest level crossing removal project.

He has a unique ability to build strong relationships. This, combined with a methodical approach to his projects, ensures a smooth delivery process and is the reason behind his history of delivering projects on time and within budget against aggressive targets.

Vince is a team orientated manager who believes success is driven through open communication and accountability, and is able to deliver positive outcomes for management in line with contractual parameters.

With experience working with brands such as L’Oreal, Vespa, Triumph, Moto Guzzi, Aprilia, as well as the Cotton On Group, Celeste has been able to use her diverse experience and skills to help continue to grow and develop the Alchemy brand in new and exciting ways.

Clayton is a highly dynamic Site Manager with over 35 years’ of multi-faceted experience working across sensitive prison projects, and high-end luxury apartments – including 1,376 apartments over two towers, as well as the tallest hotel in the southern hemisphere – Melbourne’s first Ritz-Carlton hotel at 270m high.

He has a unique ability to build strong relationships and can oversee and direct site projects from conception right through to completion. During his time working in civil construction, Nik ensured each team had the relevant plant and equipment required to meet project milestones, and built great relationships with sub-contractors and labour resource staff to achieve efficient and effective resource allocations. A subsequent stint with a residential developer entailed detailed reviews of specifications and finishes, as well as an appreciation for sub-divisions and associated infrastructure services.

Working alongside our experienced project managers on projects, such as the complex Stroke Unit fitout at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Nik has proven competence with the coordination of engineering services on highly complex and challenging projects, managing key trades in stringently controlled hospital environments.

Nik subsequently moved into the role of project manager, enforcing strict site protocols and OHS&E requirements, with an emphasis on safe work practices, overseeing hazardous materials removal works, and managing works in the heart of busy sites. In his role as PM his meticulous planning and communications with trades has resulted in tremendous works flow on his sites. Nik excels in the implementation of strict construction detailing requirements, he has great attention to detail and he takes pride in the quality of his finished works.

With nearly 10 years in the industry, Nathan developed a passion for construction while undertaking a number of demolition and defects works projects for a commercial building contractor.

His strong work ethic, desire to succeed and passion to deliver the best for the client has seen him excel in his role as Site Manager. Currently working on our health infrastructure projects, Nathan understands the complexities of works in these types of spaces, and the technical, safety and programme management skills required for successful project delivery.

Mitch is a Senior Site Manager who brings a wealth of knowledge to Alchemy Construct, starting his career “from the ground up” as a qualified carpenter in the partitions and shop fitting industry, then several years experience in the domestic housing industry for high-end spec homes, giving Mitch a strong passion for high-level finishes.

It’s important a site manager has a keen eye for detail, and Mitch is proud of his portfolio of projects completed with the absolute minimal defects at the time of the architect’s initial walk-throughs. Mitch has successfully delivered over 15 major fitout projects in the tertiary education sector, completed a quality cafe fitout in the foyer of 120 Spencer St in the CBD, and has a focus on strict adherence to OHS&E in the delivery of all works in the “live” and hectic school environments.

With degrees in Business (Marketing) and Design, Amy is the creative talent behind our bid submissions.

Working to tight deadlines, her calm, unflappable nature ensures our submissions are completed in due time and to a very high standard.

As part of a close-knit team, Amy’s strong communication and organisation skills, together with her eye for detail, are a critical part of ensuring the success of our Tendering and Estimating team. She adds much to the team through her positivity and drive to succeed.

Amy started her career in a Marketing Coordinator role, progressing to Submissions Coordinator at Coleman Rail. Having found her preferred “niche” she subsequently worked as the Bid Coordinator at Spotless Facility Services before joining Alchemy.

With 5 years’ experience in the Construction Industry, she now plays a key role in the drafting of our responses as well as responsibility for the creative element of our designs and submissions.

Martin commenced with a diverse range of fitout and extension experience, including commercial, medical suites, education and local council facilities. Over his 16 years in construction he’s worked across a broad range of project types of increased magnitude, including major redevelopments and new builds.

With his strong technical acumen, he excelled on technically challenging projects, successfully delivering complex projects that included data centres, specialist laboratories and medical facilities. Martin has a passion for a proactive and systematic approach to planning major works in “live” environments, so he’s been instrumental in the safe execution of works in community and campus based projects.

Commencing his career as a Carpenter, Sam developed a passion for custom building and modern construction whilst working on a variety of projects including apartments and high-end custom and period-style housing. This is where he formed his strong attention to detail and high quality finishes.

Moving into commercial construction, Sam has worked as a Site Manager on aged care facilities up to $14M managing up to 40 contractors.

Sam is a team orientated manager who believes success is driven through open communication and accountability, and is able to deliver positive outcomes for management in line with contractual parameters.

Commencing his career in Ireland before moving to London and subsequently Australia, Adrian has 10+ years of Site Management and Contract Administration experience. A sound understanding of site works was gained managing a broad range of trades with Glenman Corporation in London on two major Primary Schools projects, where Adrian produced outstanding results to strict deadlines. Adrian has a strong passion for detailed fit-outs, co-ordinating the building services, and can drive a large programme of works to non-negotiable deadlines.

Adrian’s previous stint as a site manager, always ensuring works are completed with minimal impact to adjacent business operations, was illustrated during the delivery of Monash Medical Centre E1 Teaching Space and Monash University’s Living Lab.  Adrian prides himself on a pro-active approach to the project benefit, with a thorough technical understanding and the delivery of comprehensive, concise correspondence.
