The RRC has two gyms, a group fitness studio, spin room, a 50m, learn to swim and toddler pools, as well as a spa, sauna and steam room, with significant clientele accessing the east entry. The dry side change room redevelopment consisted of extensive demolition and strip-out, including a large portion of the existing floor slab, as well as creating new male, female, accessible and all-gender change rooms.
These works are a major refresh to the amenities of the Richmond Recreation Centre, with finishes to stand the test of time for these heavily utilised spaces: tiling will be fully replaced, new partitioning systems and a feature terrazzo floor with all configurations strictly to DDA set-out requirements. The mechanical upgrade incorporates a heat recovery system with other ESD aspects included new feature lights and new water-efficient sanitary fixtures.
The brief required closure of the east access to be minimised during the initial major demo works and site management to ensure operations and services of the facility outside the immediate work zone be maintained throughout the project. Alchemy Construct managed all site activities to ensure use of the Centre continued smoothly, with minimum disturbance.
