Alchemy Construct were appointed to upgrade the famous ‘heritage listed’ courtyard positioned between the Victorian Courtrooms and the Old Melbourne Gaol. The Courtyard dates back to 1839 and was used as an exercise yard for some of Australia’s most notorious criminals, including Ned Kelly. The work involved the installation of new street furniture, outdoor BBQ’s and communal facilities, blue stone feature benches and renovation works to the heritage wall. The area is used for extended hours of the day and week, being a prime tourism destination. The lawn courtyard now provides a range of activities including; exhibitions, lectures, picnics, parties and historic tours.
