This multi-building project entailed the refurbishment and fitout of five buildings on Monash University’s main campus, effectively refreshing the spaces dedicated to artistic creation and accommodating students’ need for peace and functionality.
These five buildings include jewellery making rooms, clay modelling rooms, a gallery studio, offices and workspaces and even a kiln oven room. Due to the busy nature of these student areas along with noise level of equipment, it was important for them to be acoustically sealed and treated. Noise transfer and reverberation are now cancelled by acoustic panels, double insulated walls including internal double glazed windows.
Making better use of space was one of the many objectives of the project which led Alchemy Construct to demolish and reshuffle teaching areas creating an open and acoustically treated setting with a modern industrial style. Major electrical and mechanical infrastructure upgrades were made and managed around the exposed industrial look fitout.
